In about the same degree you are selfless, so shall you will be happy. - Karl Reiland

Giving provides us with joy. When we experience ourselves as givers, we receive a deep and enduring affirmation of our value to others. In transcending the self, we obtain the most profound experience of self. Doing a kind act to make someone who is sad feel better can also make us feel good – partly because we feel the same relief they do and partly because we are putting something right. Being kind opens up many different possibilities to start or develop a social connection with someone.Selflessness helps us act from our heart and soul instead of our ego, tapping into our true desired feelings, acceptance, recognition and value. True and deep love involves caring more about the other person than yourself. And it's the best feeling in the world.

Unfortunately, in this world that promotes competition and self, so many people fail to understand this. Like many other important social issues, it need to be addressed through education. Happiness never has, and never will, be based upon wealth, status, perception or even talent. Ultimately it doesn't matter how others see you, it is how you see yourself that will define you.. Think about how you would like to be remembered and be that person today. In these times of disharmony, dishonesty and disrespect, our society badly needs a change in attitude and understanding. The most important quality a person can have is empathy, closely followed by a sense of humility and responsibility. Look down upon no-one, rather, seek to assist those who require your help.
