Ignorance and Hindsight

I’m sure each of us thinks daily about something in our past and thought”What was I thinking”. Hopefully we learned from those mistakes and realise that ignorance is a human trait by which we learn about ourselves and our environment. And then hindsight gives us wisdom and perspective. But we are often very slow to gain that wisdom. And that can be fatal.

I imagine that in 100 years time people will look back on us and thought “Surely they must have known”. And I’m talking here about a world beset by pollution. Pollution in our air, water and natural resources is at dangerously high levels. Yet, the world marches on, ignorantly pretending that we are not killing ourselves. Pollution is not natural, it is insidious. And remember, what is bad for the beehive is bad for the bees.

Patricia Adams from Probe International recently said that 90% of China’s groundwater and at least 74 cities exceed the World Health Organisation air pollution standards. Even the Chinese government acknowledges the existence of “45 cancer villages” where death rates are abnormally high because their water and air have been poisoned by power plants and industrial facilities. For the Chinese government the two-pronged challenge is to find the balance between growth and further degradation of the environment. But air, water and soil quality are at their lowest levels. And now the government no longer releases reports on pollution measurements, saying they are “state secrets”.

But the pollution problem that may turn out to be worst of all is one rarely mentioned – electromagnetic radiation. As I sit here writing this, with my doors and windows closed, I using a wireless broadband connection to the internet. My mobile phone rings because the phone signal is active. If I wanted, I could use an indoor ariel to watch television.  All these radiation signals pervade my home, and my body. What we know for sure is that electrical power stations transmit harmful electromagnetic emissions, so most people are reluctant to live near them. But what about the poles and wires that desecrate the landscape of our suburbs and towns? How dangerous or harmful are those emissions? We simply don’t know. But there is much we do know. Unfortunately it is rarely mentioned and is largely ignored by our political masters.
Wireless Internet routers or Wi-Fi modems use dangerous electromagnetic radiation to send their signals to your computer through walls. If you have a wireless Internet router set up in your home or office (or WiMax, Blue Tooth, Air-Port Extreme, Air-Port Express, Netgear, D-Link, Belkin, Linksys and other wireless network devices) you are receiving massive EMF exposure, and living or working in a dangerous soup of radiation.
These antenna radiation patterns have been shown to lead to numerous health problems.

Intensity of EMF Exposure

Those DSL routers and cable modems that make it so convenient to get online emit electromagnetic radiation in the low gigahertz frequency level—this level of radiation is considered by scientists and health experts as potentially dangerous. In fact, the typical home or office wireless networks transmit radio signals in the same general frequency range as the frequency that microwave ovens use to cook food.

Duration is a Factor in Wi-Fi Health Dangers

Most Wi-Fi heath damage comes from cable modems and DSL routers don’t get turned off at night: they stay on. Connecting your machines to the internet whether you’re surfing or not…and flooding your space with EMFs 24/7.

Layering Increases the Wi-Fi Health Affects

Think about when happens when you check for a network signal. Do you see the Wi-Fi signals of your neighbours? Harmful artificial EMFs are compounding all around you.

Radiation Health Effects

You may have read about a recent case that made the news: A physician noted members of her family experiencing sleep disturbances, heart palpitations, migraines, and general poor health, all starting in the same week.
These electromagnetic radiation based ill health effects continued on and on. After eliminating every other possible cause, she turned off the router and they felt better. Luckily, they were not in an area swamped with EMFs from wireless technologies from nearby homes. Needless to say, the family uses a hard-wired Internet connection and the health problems haven’t come back.

Recent EMF Studies

More scientific EMF studies suggest prolonged exposure to wireless DSL or cable devices cause tumours, as well as memory loss and other forms of brain damage. In general, high artificial EMFs like these have been shown to disturb the human body’s natural energetic field, leading to stress and fatigue as well as DNA changes and degenerative diseases like cancer.
I find it unconscionable that the issue of harmful electromagnetic radiation is in the “too hard” basket. But I find it very easy to imagine people in the next century read about our lifestyle, shake their heads, and say “and they didn’t think it was all harming them”.
