The Ceremony

I dreamed a dream of you last night, nay us, as we stood beside a stream,
Naked but for our smiles, hands gently entwined, what did it all mean?
The crystal clear reflection at our feet shone as brightly as the moon above,
And birds of many colours hovered overhead in recognition of our love.

And then began the ceremony, not marriage, it was clearly something else,
We were being asked to commit to acceptance, of each other and of self.
So as we gazed into each other’s eyes, unconditional love burst forth and spoke,
“I love you for who you are, not what you could be, I love you in faith not hope.”
